Semáforo
Vidro fechado.
Ar frio dentro.
Mão bate fora.
Ninguém abre.
Moeda cai.
Sinal abre.
Carro segue.
Ninguém olha.
Noite chega.
Papelão estende.
Cidade acende.
Ninguém vê.
Traffic Light
Glass shut.
Cold air inside.
Hand knocks outside.
No one opens.
Coin falls.
Light turns green.
Car moves on.
No one looks.
Night falls.
Cardboard unrolls.
City lights up.
No one sees.
Leitura do poema
Reading the Poem
“Traffic Light” presents the city through quick scenes observed during brief stops. A barrier separates the controlled cold inside the car from the hand knocking outside. When the light turns green, movement begins again and allows the encounter to be forgotten. The short lines reproduce this rhythm: stop, notice for an instant, and move on.
At night, cardboard unfolds while the city turns on its lights. The contrast shows two realities occupying the same space without truly meeting. The repetition of “no one” does not accuse one particular person; it reveals a blindness that can become collective and ordinary. The poem asks for a simple yet profound change: to look. Before the light changes again, to recognize the human presence that haste has turned into an invisible part of the landscape.
