Por Enquanto
Por enquanto, foi embora.
O peso
me esqueceu.
E eu esqueci
de lembrar.
A paz veio
sem avisar.
Ficou quieta.
Quase minha.
Acreditei nela,
como se acredita
naquilo que pode acabar.
E ela ficou.
Por enquanto.
Mas a paz
tem uma sombra.
Eu sei
o que existe além.
O medo
torna isso certo.
E eu descanso
até saber.
For Now
For now, it left.
The weight
forgot me.
And I forgot
to remember.
Peace came
unannounced.
Became quiet.
Almost mine.
I believed in it,
as one believes
in what may end.
And it stayed.
For now.
But peace
has a shadow.
I know
what lies beyond.
Fear
makes it certain.
And I rest
until I know.
Leitura do poema
Reading the Poem
The poem begins with unexpected relief: the weight has left and, for a moment, even its memory disappears. Peace arrives without warning, quiet and almost possessed, but “for now” prevents it from becoming permanent safety. The speaker accepts the rest while knowing that it may end.
Peace casts the shadow of whatever lies beyond it. Fear does not destroy the rest; it simply makes that rest conscious and temporary. In the final lines, resting “until I know” is not surrender but a pause between uncertainty and revelation — a brief shelter that is still worth inhabiting.
