Leitura do poema
“Momento” tenta segurar aquilo que, por natureza, já está escapando. O antes deixou de existir, o depois ainda não chegou e o agora passa no instante em que é nomeado. As perguntas sucessivas mostram como viver, sentir e pensar podem ocupar tempos diferentes, embora aconteçam dentro da mesma pessoa.
Ao transformar “momento” em verbo, o poema cria um gesto impossível e bonito: registrar o presente enquanto ele se torna passado. Memorável ou esquecível, cada instante contém outros instantes e depende da consciência que o percebe. O texto não resolve o enigma do tempo. Ele nos deixa dentro dele, atentos à passagem e à estranha riqueza de algo que só existe enquanto desaparece.
Reading the Poem
“Moment” tries to hold what, by its nature, is already escaping. Before no longer exists, after has not yet arrived, and now passes at the instant it is named. The unfolding questions show how living, feeling, and thinking may occupy different times even while occurring within the same person.
By turning “moment” into a verb, the poem creates an impossible and beautiful gesture: recording the present while it becomes the past. Memorable or forgettable, each instant contains other instants and depends on the consciousness perceiving it. The poem does not solve time’s riddle. It leaves us inside it, attentive to passage and to the strange richness of something that exists only while disappearing.
